2-Story Coastal Club House Design Galle

Design Vision for Coastal Entertainment

et in the iconic city of Galle, the Pasindu Residence is being designed as a premier social retreat. Spanning 2,800 square feet on a 10 perch plot, this two-story villa departs from traditional residential layouts, embracing a “Club House” concept that prioritizes leisure, luxury, and open-air entertainment.

The Architectural Vision

The design is centered around a private aquatic courtyard. By utilizing a timber-heavy material palette, the architecture bridges the gap between a modern industrial structure and a warm, tropical pavilion. The two-story layout is engineered to maximize views of the pool from every social zone, creating a seamless transition between the indoor lounge and the outdoor deck.
Key Project Features
• Timber-Led Materiality: Extensive use of treated hardwood is planned for the exterior screening, pool decking, and interior ceiling accents, providing a natural, “resort-style” aesthetic that ages beautifully in the coastal climate.
• Club House Social Hub: The ground floor is envisioned as an expansive open-plan entertainment zone, featuring high ceilings and a layout specifically designed for hosting guests.
• Integrated Swimming Pool: Positioned as the heart of the home, the pool is wrapped by the structure on two sides, creating a sheltered, private oasis that acts as a natural cooling system for the living areas.
• Vertical Privacy: The upper floor houses the three primary bedroom suites, elevated to provide quiet sanctuary away from the active social zones below.

Why the Pasindu Residence Stands Out

This project stands out for its bold lifestyle orientation. In the context of Galle’s vibrant architectural scene, the Pasindu Residence offers a unique blend of privacy and social openness. By dedicating a significant portion of the 10-perch footprint to the pool and timber-clad social decks, the design achieves a “boutique hotel” feel within a private residential framework.

Reimagining the Modern Villa

The Vision

Mr. Pasindu sought more than just a house; he wanted a destination. His vision was for a home that functioned like a private club where the boundaries between the living room and the pool deck are virtually non-existent, and where timber creates an atmosphere of organic luxury.

The Challenge

Designing a “Club House” on a 10-perch urban-coastal plot requires meticulous planning. The challenge lies in ensuring the 2,800 sq. ft. structure provides enough room for three full bedrooms while leaving ample space for a functional, high-end pool area that doesn’t feel cramped.

The Apexes Approach

As we navigate the design stage, our focus remains on:
• Material Integrity: Selecting specific timber species that can withstand the coastal air while maintaining a premium finish.
• Spatial Flow: Creating a “loop” of movement around the pool to enhance the social experience.
• Atmospheric Design: Using light and wood textures to ensure the home feels like a vacation retreat every single day.

The Result

A sophisticated, timber-centric 3D concept that promises to be a landmark of modern entertainment architecture in Galle.
